A young man was killed and other eight people injured in a clash between two rival groups at Hilachiya area in Bajitpur upazila of Kishoreganj on Friday morning over cattle market supremacy.
The victim was identified as Md. Shohel (26) son of Md. Afiluddin at Joythempur village (Hilachiya) in Bajitpur upazila.
Locals there was a longstanding conflict between Chandu Miah and Golhu Miah over establishing supremacy in Hilachiya areas and at least 8 people from both side injured.
As a sequel to the conflict, the men of the two rivals attacked each other with lethal weapons, leaving on the spot.
The injured men were admitted to Zahurul Islam medical college hospital. Bajitpur Police Station Officer-in-charge (OC) Mazharul said that receiving on information Police rushed to spot and dead body was sent to Kishoreganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
