SC declared closed: Janaza of Ex-CJ Ruhul Amin held

The Namaj-e-Janaza of former Chief Justice M M Ruhul Amin was held at 11.00 am on Thursday in the Supreme Court (SC) premises.
Former Chief Justices- Justice Mahmudul Amin Choudhury, Justice Syed J R Mudasser Husain, Justice Md Muzzammel Hossain, Judges of both the Divisions of the SC and lawyers participated in the janaza.
Justice Amin’s elder son Rashid Ahmed told the reporters that his father’s body would be buried in a graveyard of Uttara in Dhaka.
Meanwhile, judicial functions of the Appellate Division and the High Court Division of the Supreme Court were suspended after 11.00 am yesterday in the honour of former Chief Justice M M Ruhul Amin.
Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha on Thursday announced that the courts would not carry any judicial activity after 11:00 am as the Namaj-e-Janaza of Justice Ruhul Amin would be held on the SC premises.
Justice Amin died in a Singapore hospital on Tuesday at the age of 74.
Body of the Ex-Chief Justice was brought to the country and taken to the SC premises for janaza.
He left behind his wife and two sons.
The Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha, Law Minister Anisul Huq, Supreme Court judges, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam and SC lawyers and officials condoled the death. Justice Ruhul Amin was appointed the Chief Justice on June 1, 2008.
