UNB, Sirajganj :
Locals in Kazipur upazila fear losing their houses and ancestral land as torrential rain and flash floods trigger severe erosion of Jamuna River’s banks.
People, who have already lost their lands and properties, are living in inhuman conditions. Now, residents of Baoikhola, Patagram, Singrabari and Suvogasa villages fear losing everything.
For the past few weeks, the water level has been increasing as erosion took a serious turn in Patagram and Singrabari villages.
Water Development Board’s Deputy Divisional Engineer AKM Rafiqul Islam said that the authorities have been urgently putting GO bags on the river banks to prevent rapid erosion.
