Staff Reporter :
Survey Diploma Engineers have demanded implementing of their five-point demands including upgradation of their pay scale to Grade-10 within a month; otherwise they threatened to launch movement to materialise their demands.
Institute of Survey Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (ISDEB), the only organisation of the survey Diploma Engineers,
made the demands at a press conference at the Jatiya Press Club yesterday (Saturday).
ISDEB secretary general Moinul Haque Chowdhury Dulal said that they would wage tougher movement if their demands are not materialised within a month.
In his written statement, he said the pay scale of other diploma engineers equivalent to the survey diploma engineers working in all other departments of the governement has been implemented in Grade- 10, but the pay scale of survey diploma engineers in Grade-10 is yet to be implemented.
He claimed that there is Prime Minister’s instruction to provide second class gazetted officer’s status and pay scale in Grade-10 to all diploma engineers to eliminate discriminations.
The ISDEB leader demanded the government of implementing the PM’s instruction within a month.
The other demands of the ISDEB include issuance of Government Order (GO) immediately to Kanungo and Deputy Assistant Settlement Officer posts as per recommendation of the Public Service Commission, providing recruitments against blank posts of surveyors and equivalents, announcing surveyor posts and technological posts, replacing educational experience ‘Diploma in Engineering (Surveying Technology) in recruitment rules for surveyor and to its equivalent posts.
He alleged that there are about 250 kanungo and deputy assistant settlement officer posts out of 400 posts remaining vacant as none was promoted and no people were recruited to the posts for over 16 years.
It is regretful that despite the PSC in line with the court verdict recommended recruiting to the posts in 2016 the Land Ministry is yet to issue GO in this regard. ISDEB Chairman Humayun Kabir Tushar, among others, spoke on the occasion while central leaders of the organisation were present at the press conference.
