Int`l Mother Language Day observed

Entertainment Desk :Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) observed the International Mother Language Day through a two-day programme on February 20 and 21. On February 21 events started with the group rendition of the national anthem at the Central Shaheed Minar in University of Dhaka (DU). Then a discussion session took place followed by a cultural programme at 3pm. Liaquat Ali Lucky, director general of BSA presided over the discussion session. Another cultural programme was held at Nandan Manch of Shilpakala Academy at 6pm.A number of foreign dignitaries and ambassadors performed at the cultural programme held at Central Shaheed Minar. Performers included- Italian Ambassador Mario Palma, Third secretary of Nepalese embassy Nirmal Prasad Bhattarai and its chargé d’affaires Sushil Kumar Lamsal, deputy counsellor of Iranian embassy Asgar Khasru Abadi, lecturer Amparo Porta of DU Spanish Language Course, Xing Lufei and Wang Kinjeling of China and Julina Zavornkova of Russia, Vincent Meyer and Humayra of France performed at the programme. A number of artistes from the indigenous groups of Bangladesh like Swei Swei Yu Marma, Chaiti Chakma also performed at the event. Bangladeshi celebrated artiste Abida Sultana and artistes of Dhaka Sanskritik Dol represented Bangladeshi talents at the event. In the cultural programme held in the evening at Shilapakala Academy artistes of the academy performed along with popular artistes like Bappa Majumdar, Rafikul Alam, Wrishiz cultural group, People’s Little Theatre troupe, Bahnishikha theatre troupe, Irine Parvin, Dipa Khondokar and more.
