Int’l confce on disability, disaster management in city May 15-17

The second international conference on ‘Disability and Disaster Risk Management’ will be held in the city from May 15 to 17.
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the conference as the chief guest at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) here on May 15,” Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury (Maya) said at a press conference at the ministry’s meeting room in the city.
He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s daughter Saima Hossain Putul will also attend the function.
“People with disabilities are not neglected. They are our children. So, we think the participants from different countries across the world would return home with a good message from the conference,” Maya added.
He said about 2,000 local and foreign participants would join the inaugural session while more than 500 will join each session during the conference.
Meanwhile, representative from 17 countries have already registered their names for taking part in the conference while the intending participants can get registered by April 25, he added.
Thai Member of Parliament (MP) Monthian Buntan will present a keynote paper in the function, the minister said, adding that more than 40 articles have already been submitted for presenting in the conference.
Secretary of the Disaster Management and Relief Ministry Shah Kamal and senior officials of the ministry were present in the press conference, among others.
