Inadequate healthcare facilities of this country, especially in Chittagong are forcing a significant number of patients every year to travel abroad to seek treatment at greater financial, psychological and physical suffering.
The “Chittagong Eye Infirmary and Training Complex (CEITC) Trust” took the initiative to create a healthcare facility of international standard where a group of philanthropists and entrepreneurs of Chittagong joined hands in this noble venture. Alongwith nurses’ and allied health training institute and facility of all relevant services, this hospital is situated on 7.5 acre of land with 5 buildings in a floor area of 660,000 sft.
The salient features of this hospital are:The architectural design and layout plan has been developed by a USA based renowned architectural firm and in order to implement task as per design, a European Consultant Group provided technical support in different areas such as engineering, information technology and biomedical. In the design and in its implementation plan, special attention has been given to infection control, patient safety and staff safety.
There is 24/7 best quality emergency service here and there are 14 (fourteen) state-of-the-art modular operation theatres for cardiac, transplant, neuro, orthopedic, gyne and obs etc. Outpatient department is located in a separate block with 62 consultant’s room and 16 nurse stations and critical care unit is equipped with 64 beds with advanced monitoring equipment. Neonatal unit has 44 dedicated beds and 8 beds are preserved for pediatric intensive care unit.
By teaming with internationally renowned Naraya Health – India, Imperial Hospital – Narayana Health Heart Centre shall run cardiac centre in joint collaboration and they will provide training to doctors, nurses and technicians. There is facility of in-campus accommodation for patients and their attendants and 10% of IHL beds are dedicated for indigent patients.
IHL has optimal firefighting system, proper medical waste management systemby following statutory regulations and the hospital always cares for environment. All types of services are ensured through the Hospitality Department.
Training programs are running for all doctors, nurses and all catergoies of employees irrespective of status .
It is hoped that that the hospital shall start its formal activities by next one month. This statistical information was apprised to the journalists at a press conference arranged on Monday morning in hospital lobby .
