Without curb in coronavirus spread, the government on Sunday reopened offices, workplaces and public transports.
The member of contaminations from the virus are above 2000 every day and the death rate is also high at the same time when the people returned to their busy life in cities and towns.
They are also using public transportations to meet the needs after spending at home for more than two months.
In this situation, Public Health Experts fear high transmission of the virus if the people act unconsciously on streets, public transportations and workplaces.
They said, many of the people are found care less to health directives and advices outlined by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) during the lockdown period. Law enforcers found it hard to compel the people to follow those safety rules and regulations.
In this view, when public transports, offices and other public places reopened, such unconscious people must ignore all of those regulations which may invite hazardous situations.
To protect the country from turning worse situations, public health experts stressed on to ensure individuals safety measures `more’ seriously.
They said if everyone gives top priority to save their own lives, then many of them will survive.
And if the people ignore or show unawareness in streets, they shall invite the virus to their families and society.
Experts stressed the people to stay at homes so far they could.
They urged all not to go outside without very important needs.
They should follow all the safety directives and advices of the government whenever they go outside.
Professor Dr. A B M Abdullah, Personal Physician to Prime Minister, told The New Nation, “When office and transportations reopened to protect the people, they should have to emphasize their individual protections strictly.”
He said, “No one knows who is carrying germs of Covid-19, so every one should be highly alert to maintain social distancing whenever they go to market, workplaces or use the public transportations.”
Dr. Abdullah said, hand washing facilities with soap and water and hand sanitisers must be ensured in every office and workplace.
He said that the social distancing must be ensured in every office, and tables, chairs and equipment should be disinfected every day.
He also stressed on to disinfect every seat and place of public transports before and after carrying passenger regularly.
He said during the lockdown to maintain social distancing was easy as there were less people in streets. But now many people are moving outdoors, so every individual should be alert to maintain social distancing strictly.
Dr. Mukhles uz Zaman Hero, Public Health Specialist and former Deputy Director of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital, told The New Nation, “Government reopened offices, workplaces and Public transportations after 66 days due to a hard realistic situation of economy. But the coronavirus outbreak is not curbed yet. So the people should be alert every moment. They should self evaluate the situation and should protect themselves as well others.”
He said, people may go outside whenever they need, but in this hard time, they must wear face mask, hand gloves and eye goggles to protect themselves.
