India will provide training to Bangladeshi ophthalmologists and nurses along with using information technology including software installation for modernizing the treatment facilities.
The eye specialists of Indian famous Arbinda Eye Care System will assist in modernizing services and management of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Eye Hospital and training institute.
A visiting Indian eye expert delegation said this during their meeting with Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim at his secretariat office here on Monday, an official handout said.
Former Health Adviser Dr Syed Modasser Ali, Director General (DG) of the Department of Health Dr Abul Kalam Azad and Former Director General of the Department of Health and noted eye expert Dr Din Mohammad, among others, were present.
The Arabinda Eye Hospital has been working for a long time in Bangladesh, modernizing the facilities at some government and non-government eye hospitals, Dr Tulshiraj, leader of the delegation, said.
Nasim said that the government has ensured the presence of the physicians at the public hospitals across the country, adding that information technology also is being used in the hospitals.
Two years ago, the government posted more than 6000 physicians to the rural hospitals following their appointment, said the minister. Another 10,000 nurses will be given posting to the hospitals throughout the country after their appointment within few days, he said.
The Indian doctors have taken up a special training initiative for building skilled eye technicians across the country. The health minister also urged the Aravinda hospital to install ‘vision center’ at all the upazilas in the southern part of the country.
