Once upon a time, Bangladeshi viewers knew Shabnam as heroine of movies Harano Din, Chanda, Talash and Nacher Putul. Then viewers watched her acting in Bangladeshi movies like Sondhi, Shorto, Sohodhormini, Jogajog, Juli, Boshira, Dil, among others. After releasing the movie Ammajaan, directed by Kazi Hayat, she became popular among all by the title of this movie.
She acted in Pakistani movies for many years. For this reason, many people though she was a Pakistani heroine.
But Shabnam’s real name was Jhorna Bosak. On August 17 (today), this
legendary actress will turn into 76. The actress herself confessed her real age.
After Ammajaan, Shabnam did not see to act in any other movie. Therefore, few years ago, she lost her husband noted music composer and director Robin Ghosh. Now she is living with her only son Roni at capital’s posh area. While asking her about to celebrate birthday, the actress replied, “I have already passed 75 years. But I can recall my past memories – going to school, spending times with my parents and doing films. Now if I think I released how much times flied from my life. I have seen various colours of life and enjoyed beauties of different ages. I have introduced with many people and learned many things in my life and also got loves from many people. I have lost many people from my life too. Still I am well -is it not enough? Now at this stage of life, I have no excitement about my birthday. I may go outside with my son Roni to take some meals on my birthday. Everybody prays for me.”
Shabnam informed that before starting acting in cinema, she was attached with dancing from many years ago.
She learned dancing at Bulbul Lalitakala Academy. In Ehtesham’s movie Esdesh Tomar Aamar, there was necessity to cast female dancers in the movie. During that time, from BAFA some dancers were brought the shooting spot of that movie. Shabnam was in that group. Then in movie Rajdhanir Bukey, there was a solo dance performance by Shabnam. Then Ehtesham started shooting of movie Harano Din casting Shabnam opposite Rahman. Later, Shabnam acted in many movies one after another.
