India maintained their all-win record in the seven-nation International Handball Federation (IHF) Trophy’ 2016 in both men and women groups on the 2nd day of the five-day competitions here on Monday.
Defending champions Indian men’s team registered their 2nd consecutive victory in the meet crushing Islanders Sri Lanka by 52-14 goals after leading the first half by 30-6 goals at the Shaheed (Capt) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium Monday morning.
In the day’s other men’s matches, Pakistan outplayed Nepal by 32-16 goals after dominating first half by 14-11 goals while Afghanistan beat the Maldives by 24-22 goals after leading first session by 13-11 goals at the same venue.
In the women’s competition, India outplayed Nepal by 45-16 goals after leading the first session by 24-7 goals, Pakistan defeated the Maldives by 31-8 goals (first half 12-5) while Afghanistan beat Sri Lanka by 18-16 goals (first half 10-9) , all at the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium .here on Monday.
After a recess on Monday, Hosts Bangladesh will play Sri Lanka in the men’s competition at 3 pm while Bangladesh women’s team will encounter Afghanistan at 11:30 am on Tuesday.
In the opening day, Bangladesh women’s team made a good start beating Sri Lanka by 47-14 goals while Bangladesh men’s team conceded 31-45 goals defeat against defending champions India at the Handball Stadium on Sunday.
Seven South Central Asian Countries, split into two groups, separately for the men and women, are taking part in the meet.
In the men’s section, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal and the Maldives have been placed in Group A while India, Sri Lanka and hosts Bangladesh in Group B.
In the women’s competition, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and hosts Bangladesh have been put in Group A while Group B comprises of India, Pakistan, Nepal and the Maldives.
