India has much scope in Bangladesh telecom market: Tarana Halim

Despite the fast growing relations between India and Bangladesh, India has not tapped into the ‘huge scope’ provided by Bangladesh’s telecom sector, says State Minister for Telecoms Tarana Halim, reports bdnews24.com.
“I always felt that our relation with India has expanded over in many sectors, But in telecommunication it has not gone to that level as it should have been. In fact I had gone to Delhi to expand it in this sector and I believe that there is immense scope for us to work together and shall move forward fast in this direction as good friendly neighbours.”
She added that Bangladesh has a very big telecom market in which India can do business and besides that, there’s also scope for both the nations to work in the cyber security as growing terrorism is a common threat for both nations. “We could bring almost our entire population under the telecommunication cover. So I believe there is a huge market for India. India and Bangladesh can also work on cyber security issues,” said Halim.
However, the minister expressed confidence that very soon terrorism would be curbed.
“Culture will play a major role in uniting people against terrorism,” the minister, once a top actress, said.
She also remembered and paid homage to all Indians who sacrificed their lives fighting against Pakistan for the independence of Bangladesh.
Bangladesh currently exports 10GBPS bandwidth to Tripura and discussions are on for export of more internet bandwidth from Bangladesh to India’s northeastern states.
