The Independence Day Volleyball competition begins today (Tuesday) at volleyball stadium in the city.
Zahid Ahsan Russel MP, chairman on Parliamentary Standing Committee of Youth and Sports Ministry, is expected to inaugurate the nine-day meet as chief guest at 3 pm.
A total of nine teams are taking part in the competition, organized by Bangladesh Volleyball Federation (BVF).
In this regards, a press conference was held on Monday at volleyball stadium to provide all the details of the meet.
BVF vice president Tabiur Rahman , BVF general secretary Ashikur Rahman Miku, BVF joint secretary and tournament committee’s secretary advocate Fazle Rabbi Babul, BVF joint secretary Azizur Rahman, BVF treasurer M Sirajul Islam and FM Iqbal Bin Anwar, operative director and head of games and sports of Walton, were among others, present on the occasion.
Participating teams are Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Air Force, Border Guard Bangladesh, Bangladesh Police, Fire Service and Civil Defense, Bangladesh Jail, Bangladesh Power Development Board and Titas Club.
