Hard-hitter Soumya Sarkar said, ” I feel good to know that Bangladesh Cricket team’s Sri Lanka tour is confirmed.” Soumya Sarkar said to the newsmen after taking part in his individual training programme at the Sher-e-Bangla Ndational Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Thursday.
Bangladesh will leave the city for Sri Lanka on Septamber 23 to play a three-match Test series against Sri Lanka from October 24.
“Obviously it feels good to know that cricket is going to resume. On Wednesday last, we learned that our tour [to Sri Lanka] has been confirmed and it really feels good to know that,” said Soumya after completing his running, gym and indoor batting sessions in Mirpur on the same day.
He said, “I think the team will have good practice going there a month prior to the series. Although it seems a long time [going to Sri Lanka a month before the scheduled start of the series] we need to do it due to safety reasons. We will just have to consider it as our team work.”
Apart from Soumya Sarkar, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mominul Haque, Mohammad Mithun, Afif Hossain, Sadman Islam, Shafiul Islam, Al-Amin Hossain, Taijul Islam took part in their individual training sessions in Mirpur on the same day.
Shamima Sultana, Sharmin Supta, Nahida Akter, Jahanara Alam, Lata Mondal also participated in their individual training programme at the same venue on the same day.
Meanwhile, Mahadi Hasan, Nurul Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz took part in their individual training session at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna the port city of the country on the same day.
Salma Ahmed and Rumana Ahmed also participated in their individual training programme at the same venue on the same day.
Abu Jayed, Ebadot Hossain, Khaled Ahmed, Nasum Ahmed took part in their individual practice sessions at Sylhet Stadium on the same day.
Nayeem Hasan, Yasir Ali Rabbi, Irfan Shukkur participated in the individual training programme at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, the other port city of the country on the same day.
Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Sunzamul Islam took part in their individual practice sessions at the Shaheed Qamaruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi on the same day.
Meanwhile, Khadiza-Tul-Kubra and Sharmin Sultana participated in the individual training programme at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogura on the same day.
