Housewife beaten to death ‘by in-laws’ in Satkhira

A young housewife was beaten to death allegedly by her in-laws over a dowry-related feud at Dandpur village in Patkelghata upazila early Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Jesmin Khatun,26, wife of Abu Musa, a
resident of the same village and a worker of a brick kiln in Feni district.
Locals said Musa’s family members had often tortured Jesmin for dowry.
The victim’s father Bazlu Sana, a resident of Barandali village in Keshabpur upazila of Jessore district, alleged Musa’s family members beat Jesmin, mother of a child, mercilessly in the dead of night, leaving her dead on the spot. They later kept the body hanging with the ceiling of her room.
Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Satkhira Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Whether it is a suicide or murder could be confirmed after the autopsy report, said Tariqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Patkelghata Police Station. A case was filed in this connection.
