The Holy Ashura, commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hossain Ibn Ali (RA), a grand son of the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) was observed in Bagerhat district town and its all the nine Upazilas of the with due solemnity on Tuesday.
Muslims across the world recalling the sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hossain (RA) along with his family members and 72 followers, who embraced martyrdom in the Hijri year of 61 for establishing truth and justice in the fight with the soldiers of Yazid on the bank of the river Euphrates at Karbala Maidan in Iraq.
The 10th Muharram which is known as the Holy Ashura was observed mainly in almost all the mosques of the district and Upazila towns the Imams discussed on the significance and importance of the day (Ashura) the Zohor or Asor prayers. Besides this, Quran Khani and Milad Mahfil was held in almost all the mosques where special prayer was offered for the salvation of the departed souls of Hazral Imam Hossain (RA), his family members and others who sacrificed their lives in Karbala Maidan in Iraq 1342 years ago.
Moulvibazar Correspondent adds: The Imambaras of Prithimpasha in Kulaura of Moulvibazar mourned their bodies by crying “Hay Hossain, Hey Hossain”. On Tuesday, August 9, on the occasion of Ashura, in Imambara of Prithimpasha Nawabbari of Longla Pargana of Upazila, Shia followers of different areas celebrated Muharram on the occasion of Holy Muharram by performing Majlish, Matam, Mursia, Zari, Noha, and mourning processions in memory of Imam Hussain (A.S.) and the martyrs of Karbala.
10 Muharram is celebrated at the Nawab House of Prithimpasha Union in Kulaura with religious solemnity and various ceremonies like in other places of the country. A well-dressed Tajiya procession brought out at the Hussaini Dalan of Nawab Bari on Tuesday. About a thousand men of the Shia community took part in the procession carrying various accessories, Tazia, black, red and green nishan. Participants in the barefoot procession wear black as a symbol of mourning.
For three and a half hundred years, the day has been celebrated with colorful arrangements in this Nawab House, which is full of memories of the ancestors of Nawab Ali Amjad of Greater Sylhet. Due to Muharram, the people in the surrounding areas of Nawabbari have become crowded. About two hundred floating shops have been installed. Shia Muslims from different parts of the country and abroad have rushed here on the occasion of Ashura. About half a million people gathered at the Nawab house.
Prithimapasha Nawab from 1st Muharram to 10th Muharram
Majlish, Matam, Nooha, Ziarat, Doa, Zarid ceremonies are held in Imam Bara, Tarfi Saheb Bari, Chhota Saheb Bari, late Shahadat Hussain Bari, Bagh Bari, Manraj Saheb Bari, Pallakandi Saheb Bari etc. to commemorate the history of Muharram and Karbala.
Mawlana Noore Alam (India), Mawlana Abdul Latif (Khulna), Mawlana Mohammad Majidul Islam (Iran) are narrating on the history of Karbala in the Imambaras of Prithimapasha Nawab’s house for the mourning ceremony of Muharram and Ashura.
