The incident of hillslide again occurred in Chittagong yesterday morning.
The incident occurred at Tigerpass hill and Pabartak hill areas but no casualty as yet reported. Sources said a portion of Tigerpass Hill near Lalkhan Bazar side fallen over the trees leaving the roadside ralling damaged caused filled the roadside drain.
Mentionable that in every year, this type hillslide are occurring claims valuable lives and the risk of deaths increase with the hillslide incident in rainy season . In 2007, about 127 people were killed in hillslide on June 11.
In the meantime, Chittagong District Disaster committee earmarked 30 risky hills in Chittagong and the committee is working to find out solutions to rehabilate the dwellers of hillpocket area.
The committee, in the meantime prepared a list of 666 families now residing with risky hill-pockets , sources said. On the other hand Chittagong City Corporation is also trying to rehabilitate the hillpocket dwellers otherwise through a constructing a 7 storied building in Batalli hill areas, city mayor recently disclosed it in a meeting of CCC .
