We salute the language movement martyrs

February 21, the International Mother Language Day is only a few days away. We feel proud for the martyrs who did not hesitate to sacrifice their lives for the mother tongue.
But it is a matter of great regret that our younger generations are not interested in Bangla and maximum children of Bangladeshis who have migrated to other countries could not read, write or even speak in Bangla. What a shame!
Michel Madhusudan Dutta tried to write English poems then he realised his folly and wrote,” Hey Banga bhandare tobo bibidh ratan.”
I request everyone to give importance to Bangla which is a rich language.

Uncontrolled commodity price

block

Amid corona pandemic, prices of essential commodities like onion, rice, pulses, oil etc. have been increased creating an artificial crisis in the market. Previously stocked products are also sold at higher prices. Low quality products have been also sold at high prices saying shortage of products in the market. Consequently, middle class and lower class people suffer the most.
However, making such unethical extra profit is not new in Bangladesh. But it is possible to control the price of goods in the local market if the market syndication can be eliminated. The government should take stern action against the traders involved in illegal manipulation.
