A high-level delegation of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has visited Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) on Wednesday.
The members of the delegation include international program specialists of USDA Jessica Mudjitaba-Fernandez and Emanuela Montanari-Stephens, Executive Secretary of APAARI Dr Ravi Khetarpal, USAID representative Mohammad Shebly and USDA Program Coordinator in Bangladesh Shaheeduddin Ahmad.
Chief Scientific Officer of Entomology Division Dr Debasish Sarker welcomed the delegation at the time of their arrival in the institute. Later they met BARI Director General Dr Abul Kalam Azad at his office where the Director General welcomed them and gave a short briefing about the activities of BARI.
Chief Scientific Officer of Entomology Division Dr Debasish Sarker, Principal Scientific Officer of Entomology Dr Nirmal Kumar Dutta and Principal Scientific Officer of DG Office Dr Dilwar Ahmed Choudhury were present on the occasion.
Later, the delegation visited IPM Lab of Entomology Division and observed the research and its development on Fall Armywarm, a harmful pest for crops. They also expressed their satisfaction by seeing activities, advancement and achievements of BARI.
