HFC phase-out at Walton factory project deal inked

The government of Bangladesh and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) signed an agreement on Sunday (May 5, 2019) to implement a mega project in phasing out Hydrofluorocarbons (HFC) at Walton Hi-Tech Industries Ltd.
Under this initiative, UNDP, with assistance from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, will provide technical support and necessary equipment to Walton Hi-tech Industries Ltd. As a partner of this project, Walton is also contributing the same amount of resources to implement it.
Monowar Ahmed, Secretary, Economic Relations Division and Kyoko Yokosuka, Deputy Resident Representative, UNDP Bangladesh signed the project agreement at NEC conference room, ERD on behalf of their respective organisations.
ERD Additional Secretary Sultana Afroz, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Shamsur Rahman and Managing Director of Walton High-Tech Industries Ltd SM Ashraful Alam, National Consultant on UNDP Chemical and Montreal Protocol Ashraful Ambia, ERD Senior Assistant Secretary Mohsina Akhter Banu, Executive Director of Walton Uday Hakim and Operative Director Taufiq-ul-Kader were present, among others, at the programme.
Under the one-year project, the environment-friendly HC-600a (Isobutane) refrigerant is being used in Walton factory instead of high global warming HFC-134a refrigerant.
