The High Court (HC) on Sunday summoned four persons including an Executive Magistrate to hear their explanation on an allegation of sentencing a man by a mobile court who was in the police custody in a criminal case.
The Executive Magistrate and Nirbahi
Officer of Lohagara Upazila in Chittagong district and Officer-in-Charge and two Sub-Inspectors of Lohagara Police Station will have to appear in the court on January 28 in 2018.
The HC bench of Justice Syed Muhammad Dastagir Hosain and Justice Md Ataur Rahman Khan passed the order and issued a rule after primary hearing on a writ petition.
Mohammad Belal Uddin filed the writ petition claiming that he was punished by an ‘arranged’ mobile court. He challenged the conviction and the legality of that mobile court and also sought compensation in the petition.
Advocate Monzill Murshid, who appeared in the court for the petitioner, said that Belal Uddin was detained on October 13 in 2017.
