Hasina`s murder threat accused brought back from USA

Nazmul Maksud Murad, an accused in the case for attempting to kill Sheikh Hasina, was brought back home from the USA on Wednesday.Special Super of Criminal Investigation Department Abdul Kahar Akand disclosed the matter at a press briefing at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) office in the city’s Malibagh area on Wednesday.Akand said, Murad along with 7-8 miscreants opened fire and hurled bombs and grenades targeting Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi House on August 11, 1989.A case was filed with Dhanmondi Police Station in this connection on February 20, 1997 against 16 people, including Murad.Murad fled to the US on October 3, 1996 and sought political asylum there as a Freedom Party activist.In 2011, CID issued a notice to the US through the Interpol. Later, American Homeland Security arrested Murad on February 2, 2012.American Homeland Security official handed him over to the Bangladesh CID police on Wednesday.Murad was a fugitive accused in two cases filed with Motijheel Police Station.The others accused in the cases are Colonel Farooq, Colonel Rashid and Bazlul Huda. Of them, Farooq and Bazlul were hanged to death in the Bangabandhu association case.
