Hasina reaches Kathmandu

Kathmandu :Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived at the Nepalese capital on Tuesday afternoon in a rousing reception toattend the 18th Saarc Summit to be held on November 26-27.A VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the Prime Minister and her entourage landed at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu around 4:05 pm (Nepal time).Deputy Prime Minister of Nepal Bamdev Gautam and Bangladesh Ambassador to Nepal Ms Mashfee Binte Shams received the Prime Minister at the airport.On her arrival, Hasina was given a guard of honour by Nepalese Army while national anthems of both Bangladesh and Nepal were played. From there she was driven to her place of residence Crown Plaza Kathmandu Soaltee – in a ceremonial motorcade. Thousands of people, including children, welcomed the Prime Minister on both sides of the roads on the way to her place of residence with flags of Bangladesh alongside the other Saarc countries.Earlier, a VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines departed Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport carrying the Prime Minister and her entourage around 3:05 pm. Ministers and High Civil and Military officials saw the Prime Minister off at the airport.On Wednesday, the Prime Minister will attend the inaugural session of the two-day Saarc Summit at City Hall (Rashtriya Sabha Griha), Bhrikuti Mandap, Kathmandu.She will be received by Nepalese Prime Minister Sushil Koirala and Foreign Minister Mahendra Bahadur Pandey. In the afternoon, the Prime Minister will have a meeting with her Nepalese counterpart at her place of residence.She is likely to have meetings with Afghan President Dr Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai and Maldives President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayoom. In the evening, she will attend a banquet to be hosted by Nepalese Prime Minister Sushil Koirala in honour of heads of state and government and their spouses. It will be preceded by a cultural programme.On November 27, Sheikh Hasina will go to Dwarika’s Resort, Dhulikhel, Kavre by a helicopter to attend the Summit retreat.In the afternoon, she will return to Kathmandu to attend the closing session of the 18th Saarc Summit at the City Hall (Rashtriya Sabha Griha). Later, she will go to the President House, Sheetal Niwas (Rastrapati Bhaban), for attending a joint call on with the Nepalese President along with other heads of state and government.On Friday morning, the Prime Minister will leave Kathmandu for Dhaka by a VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at 10:30 am (local time).The Nepalese Prime Minister will see her off at her place of residence. The Prime Minister is expected to reach Dhaka around 12:05 pm.
