1 more dies, 6 new cases confirmed: IEDCR

One more coronavirus patient has died in Bangladesh while six new people have been infected with the virus in the country, raising the number to 33.
The latest death case takes the number of coronavirus to three in the country, she said.
“An expatriate, who returned home from Italy, died at a local hospital in Bhairab of Kishoreganj,” said Professor Dr Meerjady Sabrina Flora, Director of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) at a press briefing at her Mohakhali office in Dhaka.
She said, “There are three males and three females among the newly infected persons. Of them, one is a health practitioner, two recently came from India and Bahrain, while the rest were infected by other patients.” The IEDCR director said that one doctor and two nurses are suffering from the disease.
About the activities of the IEDCR, she said the institute has tested 56 people in the last 24 hours, adding a total of 620 people had been tested so far.
Dr. Sabrina said that fifty-one people have been put in isolation while 46 are in institutional quarantine.
Replying to a query about the measures taken for the Rohingya camps, the IEDCR Director said, “Gathering in Cox’s Bazar tourists spot has been banned. We have warned people about travelling to Cox’s Bazar so that no public gathering takes place there.”
“Besides, we have our field lab at Cox’s Bazar Medical College Hospital. If anyone is detected in Cox’s Bazar, he/she can be treated there,” she said.
The IEDCR director also strictly suggested people that if anyone feel sick, the person must stay in home and do not leave homes unless need to go hospital.
Besides, she urged people to remain inside avoiding all kinds of mass gathering to contain the spread of coronavirus.
