Leading University has started its journey on March 4, 2002 in Sylhet at the initiative of eminent philanthropists Dr Ragib Ali and Rabya Chowdhury.
The university was started with only 106 students and the number of students has now stood at more than 5000 and the permanent campus has been established at Kalam Bazaar. At present the University conducting Honours courses on 8 subjects and 6 Masters courses with 120 experienced and newly-recruited teachers.
Leading University has emphasized research works on different aspects with priority basis and research journal is being published regularly. Journal of Business Society Science (JBSS) is one of the highest circulated journals of the university . Theses, essays and research articles of students and teachers are printed in this journal.
The University sponsors various socio-cultural activities out of curriculum activities and national occasions like Victory Day, International Mother Language Day , Independence Day are observed on the campus in befitting manner.
Besides, Debating Club , English Language Club , Social Services Club , Photographic Society and BNCC organize different events including business fair, workshop , seminar and training on different issues.
While talking to Professor Dr Kismatul Ahasan, VC , Leading University told this correspondent that the main objective of this university to produce quality manpower on different fields of education and we are hardly working on it.
He said, this University is fully equipped with modern facilities for students and teachers.
