Grabbed land of Khulna BL College yet to be recovered

Grabbed lands of Government BL College, located at Daulatpur area in Khulna city have not yet been possible to recover from the illegal grabbers still as a case is pending in the court which was not disposed of still, sources said.
Some influential people have grabbed 1.32 acres land of Khulna government B.L College located at city’s Daulatpur area. For this reason, in 2016, the college authorities had filed a case by order of the education ministry against 43 persons including the former deputy commissioner (DC) of Khulna district Md. Nazmul Ahsan, former additional deputy commissioner (Revenue) and former acting Mayor of Khulna city corporation (KCC) Anisur Rahman Biswas . Former 5No.Ward councilor of KCC Mofizur Rahman Hiru has been made 1 no. defendant in the case.
B.L college sources said, some influential persons of Daulatpur area have occupied college properties since long. They were asked to free it, but they did not pay any heed and as such the college authorities compelled to file a case by order of the ministry of education against them in the court of 1no. Joint district Judge’s court of Khulna on September 21, 2016 which is still pending. Concerned sources said, 1.32 acres land of B.L.College at Dag no. 258 of Khotian no. 244 near Daulatpur traffic Island has been grabbed by the influential persons for a long time. Some of them also has built multi storied buildings, shops and other establishments.
Court sources said, main defendants of the case are- deputy commissioner (DC) of Khulna, additional deputy commissioner (Revenue), acting Mayor of KCC and 5 no. ward councilor of KCC. Besides, 39 other influential persons were also made defendants in the case.
It is mentionable here that Khulna government B.L College was established at Daulatpur area near river Bhairab in 1902. It was made nationalized in 1967. The total area of the college is 41.05 acres.
There are more than 30 thousand students, Honors courses at 21 subjects and Masters courses at 17 subjects and also intermediate class in the college.
Sheikh Mohammad Ali, current 5 No. Ward Councilor of KCC and former student leader of B.L College (At present who is also a Teachers’ Leader) said, Proper step need be taken immediately for rescuing the grabbed lands of Government B. L. College.
Md. Mizanur Rahman Milton, a Sramik League leader who is also the former student of BL College said, We sought for immediate intervention of the higher authorities of the administration for rescuing the grabbed lands of govt. B.L College.
While contacted, on Sunday (on November25, 2018) at around 11.57 am, Prof. Probhash Chandra Biswas, Principal of the college told this correspondent that the case is pending in the court still. He said adding that some portion of grabbed lands of B.L College were recoverd in the meantime.
