Grameenphone (GP) has been awarded as one of the top taxpayers in Bangladesh’s telecommunication category in the fiscal year 2021-22.
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) conferred the award to the country’s top mobile operator at an event held recently in Dhaka, Grameenphone said in a press release on Monday.
Shaheen Akhter, member of tax admin and human resource management of the NBR, handed over a crest and a certificate of appreciation to Jens Becker, chief financial officer (CFO) of Grameenphone.
With this, Grameenphone bagged the award for a seventh consecutive year since the fiscal year 2015-16, it said.
In the last fiscal year, Grameenphone has contributed Tk 3,549 crores to the Large Taxpayers Unit (LTU) of the NBR, according to the press release.
Addressing the event, Jens Becker said, “At Telenor and Grameenphone, we are committed to upholding strong governance, and responsible business conducts across our business operations.”
“We are humbled to receive this recognition by NBR for the seventh consecutive time, which is an inspiration for us to continue our contribution to the national exchequer and to build a smart Bangladesh.”
