Atiqul meets PM, gets direction for DNCC polls

Atiqul Islam, who claimed that he received the green signal to become the mayoral candidate for the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) by-polls from Awami League, met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday (December 30).
The former president of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) met the PM at her official residence Ganabhaban at about 3:00 pm. Atiqul Islam himself

 confirmed the matter to the Banglanews. He said that the PM directed him to continue campaign as a mayoral candidate for the DNCC by-polls. The business leader also met Sheikh Hasina last week. Meanwhile, Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader at a function in city in the afternoon said that his party will investigate if anyone uses their party symbol-boat before the party’s decision. He said, “There is no room for creating confusion in Awami League, even in the case of union chairman, the party nomination board makes decision.”
Meanwhile, posters in support of Atiqul Islam becoming the mayor of the DNCC appeared across the city. He is taking part in campaign every day. He also took part in campaign on Saturday (December 30).
