The government is going to start selection of educated youths for developing them as First Track Future IT Leaders (FTFLs) from the last week of February aiming to provide them job in the country’s Information Technology (IT) industry, official source said.
They said Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance (LICT) Project under the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has decided to select 4,000 educated youths in phases with science and commerce background through online competitive examination.
“The competitive examination will be held online at Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) office in divisional headquarters to select the FTFLs in a manner,” LICT project director M Rezaul Karim said.
He said the selected youths will be provided three-month hands on training by the IT experts under the LICT project prior to their joining with the IT industries.
Sources familiar with the ICT Ministry, an incentive package will be provided to the IT and IT Enabled Services (ITES)companies to recruit the talented fresh graduates who, would actually be the future IT leaders and play an important role to carry forward the country’s IT sector. Over 15 companies including Daffodil IT, Business Automation, Mars Solution, Desprin Ltd, Biz Solution have already expressed their interest to recruit about 500 talented fresh graduates as per their need accepting the LICT project’s incentive package, they said.
Rezaul Karim said the companies have agreed to recruit them as future IT leaders in different trades and after completion of three-month industrial attachment training they (companies) will regularize them. The LICT project will organize the trainings programme and bear all related cost during their training period, he said.
Component Team Leader of LICT project Fokhruz Zaman initially, out of 900 FTFLs 300 will be selected for software development, 300 for BPO and 300 for IT/ITES related management. The initiative is a part of government’s plan to create 34,000 direct and 120,000 indirect jobs in IT and ITES companies under LICT Project.’The World Bank is providing 70 million US dollars credit for implementing the Leveraging ICT for growth, Employment and Governance project (LICT) within five years.
