Govt firm to ensure healthcare service for rural people, JS told

Health and Family Welfare Minister Muhammad Nasim informed the House that the government has taken a deci¬sion to give stimulus package for physicians who will stay in rural areas for 2-3 years.
Making a statement under rules 300 of the Rules of Procedures on Monday, he said the ministry wffi give various facilities including promotion to physicians who will stay in rural areas over three year.
‘The government is committed to ensure regular health¬care service for the rural people through upadlla and union health complexes,” Nasim said and urged the local lawmak¬ers to monitor healthcare service in the rural areas. Currently, over 65o physicians are eying healthcare serv¬ice in village areas and recruitment of 6,321 physicians through Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) is under way. Physidans’ crisis will be reduced after recruitment of doc¬tors, the minister said. He said the ministry will not tolerate any negligence of duty and absence from working places. Meanwhile, the ministry, took action against some physi¬cians for negligence of duty and remaining absent from working places. The government took various steps to bring modern equipment for ensuring healthcare service to people at hospitals, Nasim said.
The minister told the House that the healthcare sector achieved tremendous success under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
