UNB, Dhaka :Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Tuesday said the government officials and employees will get their December salary as per the 8th national pay scale.”The salary of December which the government employees will draw inJanuary will be as per the 8th national pay scale,” he said.The minister was talking to reporters after a meeting with a delegation of Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh, led by its president AKM Hamid, at the ministry.Replying to a question whether the public servants will get their arrears with the salary of December, Muhith said, “It depends on the accountant officers concerned. Those who will be able to finalise their bills will get the arrears.” He also said the gazette on the 8th national pay scale will be issued in the current month.Responding to another query about the selection grade and time scale, the Finance Minister said, “Though there’s no selection grade and time scale in the new pay scale, it won’t affect the employees.”On September 7, the Cabinet approved the new pay scale for public servants raising the monthly basic salary of the Grade 1 public officials to Tk 78,000 (fixed) while the basic pay of Grade 20 employees at Tk 8,250, making the national exchequer to bear an additional expenditure of Tk 15,904.24 crore in the current fiscal year.
