Govt committed to save the Halda from pollutions

Deputy Minister of Water Resources Ministry AKM Enamul Hoque Shamim said government will take all measures to save the Halda River, country’s only natural fish breeding centre from pollutions and to save bio-diversity . He disclosed it while visiting the Halda river on Thursday .
He said govt provided fund for Tk.244 crores to construct embankment in Halda to save the banks of the river under the supervision of the Engineering core of Bangladesh army and 80 percent works so far completed and hoped the remaining works to be completed by this year.
He also said monitoring of all concerned departments aimed at saving the biodiversity in Halda will be increased so that mother fishes can release fawn easily during season.
After inspection of the embankment, the minister exchanges views with the locals and fishermen. Among others, Chairman of Zilla Parishad MA Salam, Hathazari upazila chairman AKM Rashedul Alam, UNO Ruhul Amin, UZ Vice Chairman Nurul Alam Basek, Additional Director General of WDB AKM Shamsul Karim accompanied the minister during his visit.
