UNB, Dhaka :
Garments Sramik Oikya Forum on Friday demanded of the government to pay the dues of Tuba Group workers by confiscating the assets of the group’s owner Delwar Hossain.
The demand came from a human chain programme in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the city.
Speaking at the human chain programme, the Garments Sramik Oikya Forum’s finance secretary Shahidul Islam said Tuba Group owner has violated the labour law and his assets should be seized to pay the dues of the workers according to section 136 of the Bangladesh Labour (Amendment) Act 2013.
He said the State Minister for Labour, Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and the Tuba Group owner have pledged the workers to pay their dues in time, but the workers are still deprived.
“The movement of the workers will continue until their dues are paid,” he added.
Shahidul also said that the labour law had been used against the workers to what he said protect the interest of the garment owner and overseas buyers.
Some 25-30 Tuba Group workers joined the human chain and demanded capital punishment of the group’s owner Delwar Hossain in connection with the Tazrin fire incident, calling him a murderer.
