Shuvagata’s ton in vain as Brothers beat Shinepukur by 5 wkts

Skipper Shuvagata Hom’s century went in vain as Brothers Union defeated his Shinepukur Cricket Club by five wickets in the 6th round match of the 12-team Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan Ground-3 in Savar on Wednesday.
Brothers chased down a target of 289 for 5 in 49.1 overs riding on two half centuries by man of the match Myshukur Rahaman (88 off 107b; 6×4; 3×4) and Debabrata Das (75 off 60b; 5×4;4×4) after Shinepukur scored 288 for 8 in 50 overs.
Yasir Ali (45* off 34b; 2×4; x2x6) stayed unbeaten while opener Mizanur Rahman and Junaid Siddique added 37 and 31 runs respectively.
Myshukur contributed to three stands of the innings – 54 off 12.2 overs in the opening stand with Mizanur, 61 off 12.5 overs in the 2nd stand with Junaid and 69 off 12 overs in the 3rd stand with Debabrata – before he was caught by Towhid Hridoy off Raihan Uddin at 184/3 in 37.1 overs.
Debabrata was bowled out by Mohammad Saifuddin at 256/4 in 45.2 overs after sharing another partnership of 72 off 8.1 overs with Yasir Ali in the 4th wicket stand.
Raihan Uddin (2/49), Afif Hossain (1/32), Saifuddin (1/48) and Sujon Hawlader (1/39) shared five wickets for the side.
In the Shinepukur’s innings, Shuvagata and Afif started their partnership from 67/4 in 18.3 overs and ended at 210/5 in 39.2 overs as Afif was caught by Suhrawadi Shuvo off Khaled Ahmed.
Shuvagata was sent off just three balls before the end of the innings as he was caught by Mizanur Rahman off Suhrawardi Shuvo at 285/8 after scoring 116 rims off 98 balls hitting 12 boundaries and four sixes.
He also shared a partnership of 143 off 20.1 overs with Afif Hossain (68 off 77b; 5×4; 2×6) in the 5th wicket stand.
Minhaz Khan (24), Uday Kaul (19), Sabbir Hossain (18) and Towhid Hridoy (13) were other batsmen reaching the double digit for Shinepukur.
Suhrawardi Shuvo got three wickets for 68 while Khaled Ahmed (2/57), Iftekhar Sajjad (1/21), Mehedi Hasan Rana (1/ 46) and Shakhawat Hossain (1/52) were the wicket takers for Brothers.
On completion of their 6th round games, Brothers secured 7th spot moving one step up by virtue of better run rate while Shinepukur slipped to the 4th from the 2nd spot in the List ‘A’ league table. Both sides — Brothers and Shinepukur — aggregated six points each from six rounds and each side recorded three wins against three losses.
