A Customs Preventive Team seized six pieces of gold bars weighing 2.5 kilograms worth around Tk 1.25 crore from a plane at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday midnight.
However, none was arrested in this connection, Customs official said.
Learning, that several gold bars had been kept secretly in the plane of ‘Regent
Airways’ coming from Singapore around 11:40 pm, a team of Customs Preventive Team conducted a search into the aircraft and recovered six pieces of gold bars from under a seat around 11:55 pm, said Rezaul Karim, Assistant Commissioner (Customs).
A case has been filed with the Airport Police Station in this connection, said BM Forman Ali, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the police station.
