Fund shortage: Municipal citizen service limping in Bogura

Due to adequate fund scarcity, the citizen service of Bogura municipality is limping for a long time.
The inhabitants of the municipality are seeking immediate assistance of authority concern to render the smooth service as they pay all sort of demand imposed by the act of the municipality.
The municipality was established since 1876 with 1.25 square foot taking a total 7000 inhabitant with assistance of the authority concern to ensure the soft service.
Later it was turned as Ka class municipality with 14.76 square foot taking a total 1.5 lakh inhabitant. Since 2006 it area was extended by 69.56 square foot with 21 ward and 5 lakh 40 thousand people are living here with misery condition.
According to municipality office source government allot around only Tk 10 million for a fiscal year where Tk 1000 million is needed to ensure the standard service for the citizen of the municipality.
The commuters of the all ward as well as thousand people from adjacent people from Naogaon, Gaibandha, Rangpur, Sirajganj and Joypurhat district visit the municipality to perform their official work.
Besides, they com every day to purchase the cloth, engine, motorcycle and home based commodities. But due the misery condition of the municipality are suffering much.
Meanwhile, the entertainment facility of children is also disrupted here due to fund scarcity every moment, said a guardian Solaiman Hossain under 3 number ward. He urges to the authority concern to take immediate step to ensure stander citizen service.
A customer Shahiduzzamd hailing from Gaibandha district said, “We come Bogura by bus occasionally for purchasing cloth and home based commodity but the condition of the roads is vey shabby.”
