The 99th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day-2019 was celebrated through various programmes in different districts amid huge enthusiasm. Our correspondents and agencies report :
Khulna (South) Correspondent says : Like the people of other parts in the country, Khulna people on Sunday observed the 99th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children’s Day in a befitting manner.
On this day in 1920, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the vivacious leader of the Bangalee nation, the architect of independent Bangladesh and the greatest Bangalee of all times, was born in an aristocratic Muslim family at Tungipara village of then Gopalganj sub-division,
(At Present Gopalganj District). His father’s name is Sheikh Lutfar Rahman and mother’s name is Saira Khatun.
The theme of this year’s birthday of Bangabandhu and National Children’s Day is “Bangabandhu’s birthday, rinse life of the children with colour”.
Khulna District Administration, Khulna City and District units of Awami League (AL) and its front organizations and other political parties, private bodies as well as socio-cultural organizations, educational institutions including Khulna University (KU) and Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) arranged elaborate programs marking the day.
 On the occasion, Khulna District Administration brought out a rally led by towards Khulna Betar Station from KDA New Market area and placing of wreaths at the sculptor of Bangabandhu. Afterwards, a huge children assembled, discussion and cultural program were also held.
Screening of documentary film on life and works of Bangabandhu and special Milad (Doa) Mahfils and prayers at all religious institutions were also held.
Besides, competitions on painting, essay writing and recitation of poems were arranged in the educational institutions and Khulna Shishu Academy.
Marking the occasion, Khulna City and District units Awami League hoisted placed floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu, held a discussion, cut a cake and a milad mahfil to celebrate the day. The historic speech on March 7, 1971 of Bangabandhu of all party offices was also publicly addressed.
 Bangabandhu Shishu Kishor Mela, Bangabandhu Parisad, Awami League’s Khulna city and district units, Awami Ainjibi Parishad, Swadhinata Sangbadik Forum, KUJ and Unyan Moncha also organized different programmes to mark the day.
Staff Reporter from Kishoreganj says: The 99th birth anniversary day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the main architect of independent and sovereign Bangladesh was observed on Sunday with due respect in the district.
Kishoreganj District Administration, ruling Awami League, Jasad, NAP, Ganatantree Party, Gonofroun and many socio-cultural organisations arranged chalked out various programmes marking the day.
Kishoreganj District Administration organised a colourfull rally, discussion, poestering, Art copettion among the children, Milad-Mahfil, cake cutting, blood donation, docuentary films on Bangabandhu and cultural function marking the day.
A discussion meeting was held at Kishoreganj Old Statium on Sunday morning with Deputy Commissioner Md Sarowar Morshed Chowhdury in the chair.
Rezwan Ahmed Toufic M.P attended as Chief Guest. Police Super Md. Mashrukur Rahman Khaled BPM (Bar), Zila Parished Chairmen Adv Md. Zillur Rahman and District Awami League President Adv Kamrul Ahshan Shajahan were attended as special guest.
It was addressed among others by Dist. Awami League Secretary Adv M.A. Afzal, Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Habibur Rahman, ADC (Gen) Torafder Md. Akhter Jamil, Additional Police Super Md. Nazmul Islam, Ex. Freedom Fighter Unit Commander Al-Hajj Md. Asad Ullah, Ganatantree Party District President Advocate Dholon Bhowhmik, Women Leader Bilkis Begum, CAB Leader Assistant Professor Samiul Hoque Mollah, Sadar UNO Md. Bagerhat Correspondent says : The 99th birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Shaikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children’s Day was observed in Bagerhat district town and its all the 9 upazilas on Sunday with due respect and festivity.
Earlier the district administrations, Awami League, its front organizations, Shishu Academy, Sangskritik Foundation, Shilpakala Academy, Islamic Foundation, Muktijodha Sangsad, educational institutions, socio-cultural and political organizations chalked out daylong and elaborate programmes to celebrate the day in a befitting manner.
The programmes included placing of floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu Shaikh Mujibor Rahman, children’s gathering and rallies, drawing pictures, hand writing, essay and quiz competitions, discussion meeting on the life and works of Bangabandhu, special prayers were offered in the mosques, temples and churches for the salvation of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and other members of his family, improved diets were supplied to the orphans in the orphanages, prisoners in the jail and patients in the hospitals.
Gouripur (Mymensingh) correspondent adds: The 99th birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman ‘the chief architect of an independent and sovereign Bangladesh’ and the National Children’s Day was observed in a befitting manner on Sunday in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh district.
Apart from the ruling Awami League (AL) Gouripur upazila unit and its front and associated bodies, different political, socio-cultural and educational organisations chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the Day, which is also the National Children Day, with due respect and in festive mood.
The Father of the Nation was assassinated along with most of his family members on the fateful night on August 15, 1975 when he was only 55 years old.
A children’s rally was brought out at 9:00 am from the Upazila Parishad that ended at the same place. Students of different institutions like Gouripur Pilot Girls High School, Gouripur R.K.Govt. High School, Nurul Amin Khan High School, Agradut Niketon Adarsha High School, Gouripur Govt. Technical School and College, Govt.Textile Vocational Institute, Islamabad Senior Madrasha joined the rally. This rally was attended by Freedom Fighter Nazim Uddin Ahmed MP, while UNO of this upazila Farhana Karim was present.
Afterwards, a discussion and prize-giving ceremony was held at Upazila Public Hall with Farhana Karim, UNO of Gouripur upazila in the chair while Freedom Fighter Nazim Uddin Ahmed MP was present as chief guest and other prominent persons were present and addressed the audience.
Gouripur Govt. College arranged separate program in college auditorium where Principal Prof. Khondakar Abdul Wadut was present as chief guest. The students and teachers spoke there.
Besides, from morning to evening different associate organizations of the party, including Awami Jubo League, Mohila Awami League, Krishak League, Bangladesh Chhatra League, Sramik League and various other socio-cultural bodies also chalked out elaborate programmes marking the day.
Dupchanchia (Bogura) Correspondent reports: The 99th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children’s Day-2019 was celebrated in Dupchanchia upazila of Bogura district on Sunday in a befitting manner.
The people of the upazila have celebrated the day through extensive programmes with fanfare and gaiety. The theme of this year’s birthday of Bangabandhu and National Children’s Day is “Bangabandhu’s birthday, rinse life of the children with colour”.
On this day in 1920, Bangabandhu, the vivacious leader of the Bangalee nation, the architect of independent Bangladesh and the greatest Bangalee of all times, was born in a respected Muslim family at Tungipara village of Gopalganj district.
A discussion meeting on National Children’s Day was hoisted at Dupchanchia upazila administration office premised presided over upazila nirbahi officer SM Zakir Hossain.
Apart from this, public hospitals, clinics and healthcare services organizations provide free of cost treatment at outdoor from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm on the day. Quality foods have been surved to all hospitals.
Charghat (Rajshahi) Correspondent says : The 99 birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day was observed in Charghat upazila District of Rajshahi on Sunday .
 A colorful rally was brought out and different programmes were chalked out to observe the Day.
At the beginning of the Day, a 30- pound cake has cut . Presided over by UNO Muhammad Nazmul Haque as special guest, Upazila AL President Anwar Hossen, Health Complex Officer Habibur Rahman, Awami League Secretary Principal Shazuddin, FF Mizanur Rahman, SI Karim, CL Secretary Raihan include teachers, student and journalists were present.
 After the programme, UNO has distributed the prize among the winners.  
BSS from Rangpur says: The Rangpur people on Sunday celebrated the 99th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day-2019 amid huge enthusiasm turning the city into a festive place.
Thousands of people including students and youth participated in the colourful programmes in cheerful mood to celebrate the birth anniversary of Bangabandhu since the morning.
The district administration, Awami League (AL) and its associate bodies, Rangpur City Corporation, Shishu Academy, Shilpokola Academy, Islamic Foundation, educational institutions, socio-cultural and professional organisations celebrated the happy occasion.
The celebration began in the morning with placing wreaths at the Mural ofBangabandhu at Bangabandhu Square near Rangpur Zila School in the city.
Divisional Commissioner Mohammad Joynul Bari, Additional Deputy InspectorGeneral (DIG) of Rangpur Range Police Mazid Ali, Additional Commissioner of Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) Abu Sufian, Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib and Police Super Mizanur Rahman first placed wreaths there.
Later, Acting President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, it’s General Secretary Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju, city AL President Shafiur Rahman Shafi and its General Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal also placed wreaths.
Among others, freedom fighters, leaders of different political parties and their associate bodies, heads of different government departments and educational institutions and activists of other organisations paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing
wreaths at the Mural.
The district administration brought out a huge colourful rally on the city streets with participation of officials and employees, students, teachers, political leaders, civil society members, activists of different socio-cultural, professional and political organisations.
The other programmes included children’s gathering, competitions on drawing, essay and ready speech on Bangabandhu’s March 7 speech, publication of wall magazine and screening of documentary films.
The programmes also included publication of special supplements and essays by the local newspapers marking the occasion, offering of special Munajat and prayers at mosques, mandirs, churches, pagodas and other places ofreligious worships.
In addition, celebrated photographer Pavel Rahman arranged a special photo exhibition at Zila School ground displaying 99 photos of Bangabandhu taken by Rahman on different occasions marking the 99th birth anniversary of Bangabandhu. The Divisional Commissioner formally inaugurated the photo
exhibition as the chief guest in a function held there with the Deputy Commissioner in the chair.
The district and city units of AL and its associate bodies chalked out elaborate programmes in addition to participating in the main programmes chalked by the district administration to celebrate the birth anniversary of Bangabandhu.
BSS from Rajshahi adds: The 99th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day was celebrated in the city and its adjacent areas on Sunday amid much enthusiasm and festivity.
Marking the day, the district administration brought out a colourful rally from C&B Crossing that culminated at Shilpakala Academy ground after parading some of the thoroughfares. Large number of people, including schoolboys and girls in colourful dresses, joined the rally.
Afterwards, a discussion and prize-giving ceremony was held at the Shilpakala Academy hall room.
Commissioner of Rajshahi division Noor-Ur-Rahman addressed the discussion as the chief guest with Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi SM Abdul Kader in the chair.
Deputy Inspector General of Police of Rajshahi Range Khurishid Hossain, Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police AKM Hafiz Akter and Superintendent of Police Md Shahidullah also spoke.
The district administration and Bangladesh Shishu Academy also arranged a daylong programme, including painting competitions, handwriting, essay and extempore speech for children paying rich tributes to Father of the Nation.
The competitions were held at different educational institutions in the metropolis and the district.
Marking the day, local socio-cultural and political organisations arranged separate programmes in the city and upazila headquarters.
The programmes included discussions, cultural shows, screenings of documentaries and events competition.
Local units of Bangladesh Awami League and its front organisations also celebrated the day through different programmes, including hoisting of national and party flags, garlanding portraits of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and holding discussions.
Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) and Awami League City unit president AHM Khairuzzaman Liton accompanied by other front ranking leaders placed floral wreaths on the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the party office.
RCC opened a 10-day Bangabandhu international cultural festival at its Green Plaza today to mark the celebration. Member of Bangabandhu Memorial Trust Poet Sheikh Hafizur Rahman opened the festival while former governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr Atiur Rahman addressed the opening ceremony as the chief guest with City Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton in the chair.
Rajshahi University, Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology, Rajshahi Education Board and various other educational institutions also celebrated the day paying rich tributes to Bangabandhu.
