In observance of the 4th death anniversary of Gias Kamal Chowdhury, versatile journalist of the country, a discussion meeting and Doa Mahfil was arranged at Chittagong Press Club Auditorium on Monday arranged by Independent Newspaper Readers Association presided over by its President journalist SM Jamaluddin
 Gias Kamal Chowdhury was the President of BFUJ , National Press club, special correspondent of BSS, member of Press council, correspondent of VOA in Bangladesh, central advisor of Independent Newspaper Readers Association.
 Valient freedom fighter and central Secretary General of Bhasani Parishad Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu graced the occasion as chief guest.
Organising Secretary of INRA Nazimuddidn conducted the meeting .
Among others, General secretary of Chittagong Sangbadpatra Parishad Freedom fighter Moinuddin Quaderi showkat, former vice president of BFUJ Jahedul Karim Kochi, Ln MA Samad Khan CIP, Editor of Amader Chattagram Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury, trade union leader MA Sattar, Chairman of Consumers Rights Implementation Parishad N Mohammad Putu, tax lawyer Md. Amir Hossain, writer Parshed Bin Anowar, Sufi SM Sirajdowla, Prof. Abu Taleb Belal, writer Fazlul Gani Mahmud, General Secretary of Bhasani Parishad Mozzamel Hoque, Prof. Abdul Hai, journo Abdul Noor chy, poet Sajal Das, Noor Mohammad Rana, Monoar Aziz Chowdhury, Belayet Hossain, Shamal Nath, Humanist leader Jasimuddin , student leader Syedul Alam spoke on the occasion.
The chief guest in his brief deliverations said Gias Kamal Chowdhury was an uncompromising leader of the newspaper industry and journalists and path finder of the democratic movement.
He was the unparallel voice of the journalists in realizing their rights and privileges and the pioneering path finder of journalism, intellectuals and patriotic writers. He urges the journalists to be more united to face the national crisis boldly.
 Noted journalist FF Moinuddin Quadery Showkat said Gias Kamal Chowdhury was a conscious journalist of history and traditions. In the concluding speech, President of INRA and chair of the meeing Journalist SM Jamaluddin said newspaper not a garden of flowers rather a nail garden. He also said for the rights of the newspapers , movement still continuing since the regime of the erstwhile Pakistan period which will be continued till rights are fulfilled.
 He further said journalist Gias Kamal was the path finder of the d emocratic movement . The speakers prayed for salvation of the departed soul in the Doa Mahfil , sources said.
