Gazi Group Cricketers of the Premier Division Cricket League won the first major domestic tournament in the head-to-head with 24 points by wining 12 matches out of 16 in 2016-17 season, said a press release.
To honor this achievement, Gazi Group Cricketers Champions Carnival was held on Monday.
Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hassan, MP, attended the carnival as the chief guest while Gazi Group chairman Golam Dastagir Gazi, MP, was present as special guest.
President of Gazi Group Cricketers Gazi Golam Murtoza presided over the function.
BCB president said, “If the top corporate houses of the country will come forward, then it will be good for the country’s cricket. The Gazi Group was always with the country’s cricket and they still hold it up to date.
Hopefully their success will inspire others to work for the country’s cricket and sports world ahead.”
Golam Dastagir said, “Gazi Group was always beside the BCB and will be in the forefront for the development of Bangladesh Cricket. Through the Cricketers Hunt, Gazi Group is giving the opportunity to play at the professional leagues in the country by picking talented cricketers. Very soon we are going to build an international standard cricket academy named Gazi Tyres Cricket Academy in our own land.”
“Besides, we are going to start the work of academic building for our first division cricket club Rupganj Tigers and a separate academic building for Gazi Group cricketers. We are making international standard cricket ground for our club players so that they can practice safely and comfortably. We are proud to contribute at the development of cricket,” he further said.
Bangladesh Cricket Board directors, BCB officials, coaching staff of Bangladesh National Cricket team, members of the selection committee, players of National team and Gazi Group cricketers, former captains of Bangladesh national team, officials of all clubs under CCDM, owners of BPL franchisees
and officials of leading corporate houses of the country were also present on the occasion to congratulate Gazi Group Cricketers on their success.
The carnival followed by different cultural programs like puppet show, bioscope and circus.
