‘Fugitive war criminals to be brought back soon’

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Thursday hoped bringing back from abroad the war criminals awarded death sentences by the court for committing crimes against humanity during the Liberation War.
“I hope that the present government would bring back the war criminals, who were awarded death sentences, from different countries soon,” he said while paying tributes to the martyred intellectuals by placing floral wreaths at the Martyred Intellectuals Mausoleum at Mirpur here.
AL Advisory Council Member Advocate Abdul Matin Kashru, Organizing Secretaries Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury and AKM Enamul Haque Shamim, Deputy Office Secretary Biplob Barua and AL Executive Committee member Advocate Riazul Kabir Kawsar, among others, were present on the occasion.
Quader said the present government is also working to bring back the killers of the intellectuals in 1971.
The AL General Secretary said there are some complications in the countries where the killers are hiding.
“We hope that the verdicts will be executed soon after bringing back the killers,” Quader said.
Earlier, Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges Minister, paid rich tributes to the martyred intellectuals on behalf of AL President Sheikh Hasina by placing floral wreaths at the Martyred Intellectuals Mausoleum on the occasion of the Martyred Intellectuals Day.
