Food items distributed in Sylhet

Necessary food items have been distributed in different areas of Osmaninagar and Balaganj upazilas of Sylhet district as part of the second phase (October 2021-September 2022) activities of SOS Children’s Village International in Bangladesh titled “Support COVID-19 Response”. S.M Mainuddin, Officer In-charge, Osmaninagar Thana, Sylhet inaugurated the program at SOS premises on Sunday. Mr. STM Fakhar Uddin, Chairman, Dayamir Union Parishad, S.A Shofiee, Sylhet Bureau Chief, The New Nation also present on the occasion. The event was presided over by Mr. Mohammad Yousuf Ali, Director of SOS Children’s Village Sylhet and conducted by Mr. Tanbir Ahmed, In-charge, SOS Social Center Sylhet.
The food items were later distributed in Mominpur area of Osmanpur union, Banigaon and Sonapur areas of Boaljur union. Notable personalities including the chairmen of their respective unions were present on the occasion. Food distribution activities were undertaken to a total of 495 disadvantaged families benefiting from Family Strengthening and kinship care programs in the two upazilas while maintaining proper hygiene and safe distance. The food was per family 1) Rice – 10 kg, 2) Soybean oil 02 liters 3) Salt – 01 kg, 4) Lentils – 02 kg, 5) Potatoes – 05 kg, 6).Onion – 01 kg, 6) 200 g of powdered milk – one packet, 6) Sugar – 01 kg, 9) Puffed rice – 1 kg, 10). Energy biscuits – 20 packets, 11) Eggs – 30, 12) Laundry soap – 2, 13) Beauty Soap – 02 and 14) Detergent powder – 01 packet (500 gm).
It is to be noted that SOS Children’s Village has been working in solidarity with all the steps taken by the government to prevent and control the spread of Corona virus and to follow the guidelines of the World Health Organization. Considering the overall situation, SOS Shishu Palli Sylhet has undertaken special activities for the beneficiaries and has already successfully completed the first phase activities.
