FJFD stages demo demanding Rozina’s release

Staff Reporter: Faridpur Journalists Foundation, Dhaka (FJFD) formed human chain and staged demonstration in the premise of the National Press Club on Wednesday demanding immediate release of Prothom Alo Senior Reporter Rozina Islam from jail.
Amaresh Roy, President of FJFD presided over the programme while Asaduzzaman, General Secretary of the organization moderated it.
Layekuzzaman, former President and Ali Azam, Vice President and former General Secretary of the organization, Reza Mahmud, Organising Secretary, Arafat Zubayer Treasurer of FJFD, journalists Al Amin and Asokesh Roy, among others, were gave speeches.
FJFD leaders condemned the repression and arrest of Rozina Islam and demanded immediate release saying this misdoing proved that bureaucracy created an unholy circle to destroy all achievement of the country.
They described that the country is confined in the grip of the unholy circle of the bureaucracy.
The leaders said that liberal journalism in the country is now under threat and urged the government to free Rozina Islam quickly and ensure freedom of journalism.
Rozina Islam was arrested and later sent to jail for allegedly attempting to illegally “collect sensitive government documents and taking photos of them” from the Secretariat on Monday.
