Five drug traders held

Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested five alleged drug traders, including a female, from City gate area of the port city early on Thursday.
Of the arrestees, two were identified as Mohammad Hanif, 24, son of Abul Kashem, a resident of the port the city and Mohammad Ishak, 28, son of Khaled Sobhan, of Feni district.
Mashkur Rahman, assistant director of RAB, said a team of RAB-7 intercepted a Chattogram-bound private car around 2 am. Then, people who were inside the car opened fire at the RAB team forcing members of the elite force to take retaliation. Hanif and Ishak were injured during the firing. The injured persons were undergoing treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH), RAB sources said. The RAB personnel also recovered a pistol, two bullets and 496 bottles of Phensidyl from their possession, Rahman added. A case was filed in this connection.
