Dead body of a fisherman was recovered from Baraitala canal near at Baraitala forest camp within Chandpai Forest Range under the Eastern Division of Sundarbans in Bagerhat district on Thursday afternoon, according to a delayed report received here.
The ill-fated fisherman was identified as Nikhil Shiwili (60), son of one Harashit Shiwili of village P C Dema within Dema Union under Bagerhat Sadar Upazila.
Police, told it is learnt from a pass (permit) recovered from the pocket worn by the (dead) fisherman that he (dead fisherman) entered the Sundarbans on September 08 with the permission of the forest department for catching crabs from there (forest) for only one week. Md. Monirul Islam, Officer-in-charge of Mongla PS told, some fishermen found the dead body floating in Baraitala canal under Mongla Upazila at the time of low tide while they were returning from the forest and informed the police of the matter on the same day.
We recovered the dead body from there and sent it to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for autopsy. In this connection a UD case was registered with the PS.
