Various species of local fishes worth about Tk 1.5 lakhs were poisoned to death at a cultivated fish pond in Matlab Uttar Upazila recently.
Enterprising youth- Shimul Sarker ,30, son of Alhaj Md Delwar Hussain Sarker of Momrujkandi village of the Upazila, cultivated various species of local fish beside his home in the village in collaboration and consultation with the local fish officials in this water body in an effort to be self-reliant economically. He was astonished and shocked to see his fish species floating dead. Being frustrated and upset, he filed a case on the following day with Matlab Uttar Thana suspecting some people of the village in this connection.
