A 7-storied first ever women hostel for the women workers has been inaugurated at Middle Halishahar area adjacent to Chittagong EPZ on Monday. Japanese Ambassador in Bangladesh Mashato Watanabe formally unveiled the plaque of the newly constructed women dormitory as chief. BEPZA chairman Maj. Gen. Habibur Rahman khan was also present during the inauguration .
This is the first dormitory for women workers across the country is built in Chittagong for accommodating about 750 women workers with the financial assistance of a Japan based Electronics factory- M/s. Opseed (BD) Ltd. located in EPZ, Chittagong.
Sources said this dormitory was constructed at a cost of Tk.18 crores and the dormitory equipped with modern living amenities .
Mentionable that no foreign or local organizations located in the EPZs has built such a dormitory for the women workers, sources said.
