At least four shops were gutted in a fire at Harualdigi under Biyazid thana in the city last morning.
Fire Service & Civil Defence sources said the fire originated from an electric short-circuit of a shop in the area at about 7 am and it quickly engulfed the adjacent shops.
Being informed, firefighters of two units from surrounding fire stations rushed to the spot and brought the flame under control around 8.30 am.
“Valuables worth about Taka four lakh were gutted in the fire,” the sources said, adding that none was, however, injured in the fire.
