Fingers of women severed in Jatrabari

Miscreants cut off the hand of a woman up to the wrist and stabbed her husband and daughter in the city’s Kajla area of Jatrabari early Thursday.
The injured have been identified as Nargis Akhter (35), her husband Moluk Chan (40), owner of an engineering workshop, and their daughter Mona Akhter (16). They were first admitted to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) and thereafter shifted to PG Hospital.
Ekram Ahmed, nephew of Moluk Chan said, a gang of masked robbers, numbering four to five stormed the house and looted gold ornaments and cash money keeping all of them hostage
at gunpoint at about 2:30am. When they tried to resist the robbers from looting their ornaments and valuables, the robbers hacked Nargis indiscriminately with sharp weapons, removed her left hands up to wrist and stabbed many parts of her body, he said.
Sabiha Akhter, wife of Moluk’s brother said, Moluk Chan and his daughter Mona also sustained stab injury at different parts of their bodies.
However, the family members could not say about the quantity of gold and valuables that were looted.
Aboni Shankar Kar, Officer-in-Charge of Jatrabari Police Station, said, we have arrested three suspected persons in this connection. They have been taken to interrogation cell.
