Court Correspondent :
A Dhaka court yesterday fixed October 3 for the testimony in the case, Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) filed against former Communications Minister Barrister Nazmul Huda about filing fake case against former Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha.
Yesterday (Thursday) was fixed for the testimony in the case. As, judgment of the appeal challenging the validity of the ACC case was pending in the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, the defense pleaded for time. Accepting the time plea, Judge Sheikh Hafizur Rahman of Special Judge Court-9 fixed the date afresh.
Nazmul Huda filed the case against former Chief Justice SK Sinha with Shahbagh Police Station on September 27, 2018, for allegedly demanding bribe from him and changing the judgment of a graft case which had already been disposed of.
The ACC after probing the case for one and a half years, found the allegations baseless and false, and filed the case against Nazmul Huda on February 20, 2020.
The ACC submitted charge sheet against Barrister Huda to the Senior Special Judge Court of Dhaka on October 7, 2021. Charges were framed against him on April 6, last year.
