FIAB demands withdrawal of AT on poultry, fish feed raw materials import

Feed Industries Association Bangladesh (FIAB) and other three associations demanded withdrawal of Advance Tax (AT) from the raw materials import to ensure unhindered production and supply of poultry, fish and dairy feed and reducing production cost of egg, chicken meat, fish and milk.
They made the demanded at a press conference held at the National Press Club on Saturday.
The associations are Breeders Association of Bangladesh (BAB), World’s Poultry Science Association-Bangladesh Branch (WPSA-BB) and Bangladesh Poultry Industries Central Council (BPICC). Leaders of associations said, due to AT they are encountering serious problems while importing raw materials and facing severe liquidity crisis.
Ihtesham B. Shahjahan, President of Feed Industries Association Bangladesh (FIAB) said, poultry and fisheries sectors are free from Advance Trade Vat (ATV) and all other value added taxes on import and production as per a as SRO issued by the government recently.
The government agencies were also convinced and assured to withdraw the Advance Tax when they placed their demand with evidence during a series of meetings with the National Board of Revenue (NBR), Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock (MOFL), and the Department of Livestock Services (DLS).
Md. Ahsanuzzaman, General Secretary of FIAB, Shamsul Arefin Khaled, ex-president of World’s Poultry Science Association-Bangladesh Branch (WPSA-BB), Moshiur Rahman, President of Bangladesh Poultry Industries Central Council (BPICC) and other leaders from concerned trade body were also present during the programme.
